Eye On Detail

Color sanding paint to reduce scratches.

One of the challenges I face each day is that of having to quote prices. This in itself is not a difficult task until Iam asked to do it over the telephone and relating to specific situations outside of routine detailing. Because a vehicle is, a personal thing that we see every day it is often an oversight in thinking that the person on the other end is equally familiar with this vehicle. Unless you are taking your vehicle to an automated facility where each vehicle is serviced in the same manner, it is difficult to have a fixed rate for all your vehicles needs. Customers primarily choose Brian’s Exclusive Detail because they want personal attention for a specific situation. They then tend to return for routine maintenance.
To illustrate this, I got a call from a prospective client who wanted to know if I could remove scratches in the paint of his car. After an invitation to bring the vehicle in for a no obligation quote, he came in with the vehicle. This turned out to be a minivan that had been keyed on all panels but the roof. A preliminary inspection concluded that the vehicle could be polished by machine to remove these scratches. After 30 Mins of polishing on one panel, the scratches persisted. It took eight hours and color sanding all panels to resolve this issue. Below is a pictorial of this job.
