Eye On Detail

Black 7 series BMW detailed by Brian

I had the opportunity this past Friday to Detail Loren Koski’s black 7 series BMW. Loren is by no means a stranger to BMW’s being the owner of Import Paint and Body which is the primary collision repair shop in Charlotte for BMW, Mini and Porsche among other makes. Neither is he a stranger to black cars a black Mini cooper being his daily driver.
This was not my first time working for Loren. In fact Loren previously, graciously allowed me to work out of his shop for a considerable period of time during which I cared for his cars and the cars of his clients. Those who know Loren well knows that quality workmanship is a prerequisite for him.
As with all cars that I detail my objective is to polish delicately to correct and maintain the original paint. I tend to stay away from what is widely considered “buffing” which is most times aggressive machine polishing with coarse compounds . Instead I much rather use fine polishes and extra time to bring out the depth and clarity of a cars paint finish. It is my experience that this technique is in the best interest of the cars longevity. It also reduces any chance of creating swirl marks and holograms.
Detailing this black car was no different. Several stages of polishing and a few stages of a sealant resulted in the finish results shown below.
